Cataclismo rocks! I’ve never seen rts game do so much with verticality. Base building is unique and interesting. Art style is great and story seems promising. If you can, please cover it! The devs deserve it.

Ever since I got Return of Rome, I have barely touched regular aoe2. Having aoe1 with aoe2 qol like formations and better pathfinding was literally my dream game. I just like the units and the historical period better.

Lets all agree, that this is NOT part of the Command and Conquer series

You know this might be a controversial take but I am sorta not into the Total Annihilation or SupCom Type of RTS, yes its a huge battllefield and can be thousands of units but alot of units dont have a unique charm about them, Like they go from T1 tank to T2 Tank to T3 Tank and not much has changed, maybe its because of the way I play these games, Tend to zoom out alot and to see the dots on the map and use those alot. The maps are just big plains too , barely any cities or any other environment.

COH 1 hands down the best. Captures the horror of war. COH 2 and 3 looks cartoony

I dont think it was a lie. Dow 3 fumbled on every step it made. Had they mostly gone theyr moba rout (which already caime at a bad time cuz the market was saturated with them while completely lacking rts games), and advertised it as such, it would have been a completely diffrent story.

I got super tired on mission 3. SO maybe I should give it a proper try.

Kinda puzzled why people compare Broken Arrow with World in Conflict, while there are Wargame and Warno games. BA is much closer to them than to WiC. Its funny that I remember buying Wargame:EE exactly because "it looks like WiC!" but it was so long ago, the series gone its way since. And BA goes with them. For WiC-like I'd say Terminator Defiance is more like it or its successor Front Edge.

There is also a new RTS from "Syrian Warfare" creators called "Front Edge". It technically have been released this April and was pretty much playable, but it's mostly multiplayer and constantly receiving new features, obviously being a groundwork for something bigger - roadmap suggests it becoming a premium game with singleplayer campaign and editor at some point in the future (or most likely serve as a platform for paid expansions with various campaigns). Until then it probably won't get to Steam though and currently only available on the developer's website or VK Play to download.

I am SO hype for broken arrow, ive been in every play test (i think) so far and oh man i just want it now. I cant wait to get the unrestricted access to the full unit list of each battlegroup. It even has tactical nukes, its gonna be so bad ass!

Dust front dev is kinda a PoS. Openly supports the war in Ukraine. Play it if you want to and ignore his opinions or whatever, but i won't be playing it since he thinks Russia committing war crimes is fine.

Era one (surely in early access) should get released this year. An innovative homeworld like game by the hw complex mod devs. Beyond all reasons... again? Its released already since years now. Well free advertisement is always appreciated for such a niche game. zero-k deserve more love too.

The game I'm personally most excited about, but isn’t on this list, is Silica. It's a rts/fps hybrid. It's in my opinion extremely promising. Beautiful graphics and atmosphere. You can buy and play the EA already, but mind you, a lot of content development still needs to be done. The developer is very active in interacting with the community, and has a great vision for the game.

Two I’m looking forward to most are DORF and Tempest Rising

I know it's not my place to tell you what to like sir Zade but I feel like your uh.. how can I put this... "Mildly visceral" reaction to PvP RTS seems somewhat misunderstood to me. PvP RTS is one of the most amazing feelings you can have as a commander on the field dishing against another human commander. The problem is in my opinion that you are sick... Er what am I insulting you? No what I really mean is that there is this sickness or phobia that has entered the bones of some people that any rts that tries to take it's PvP seriously will instantly end up like StarCraft 2 and now we're going full eSports mode and let's get a hyper competitive ranked system...... No like, calm down 😁 PvP is fun, smashing your dumb brain in your opponents dumber brain in a human experience is super fun. This is what most rts PvP is and should be.

Total Annihilation deserves a remake it was my first RTS and up until last year I still played it some. Unfortunately my new pc with W11 wont run it or other older games such as Empire Earth and Rise of nations

You are forgetting games like Dorf, zerospace or inmortal gates of pyre.

I would also add 'Diplomacy is not an option' - available in early access now, releasing fully in September.

Some more upcoming RTS games which look promising: Tempest Rising, D.O.R.F, Global Conflagration, Zephon, ZeroSpace, Red Chaos: The Strict Order, Space Tales, Dinolords, Warpaws. And also some management/builder games like: Frostpunk 2, Endzone 2 and Worshippers of Cthulhu.

I hate that all the supreme commanderish games and most of the games you showed in this video have that supreme commander 2/Planetary Annihilation anime style look to them. Why cant they just make it look "serious"? Is it because they fear bad performance? how can that be a problem if Sup Com Fa did it back in the old days. its 2024 damit!
